The Ozempic prescribing information includes a warning about acute kidney injury and worsening of existing kidney problems, and states that "a majority of the reported events occurred in patients who had experienced nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or dehydration." The same label tells doctors to counsel patients "of the potential risk of dehydration due to gastrointestinal adverse reactions and take precautions to avoid fluid depletion." The Mounjaro label carries the same class warning and advises doctors to "monitor renal function in patients reporting adverse reactions to MOUNJARO that could lead to volume depletion."
